Student Project Report Printing Guide
Submission deadline coming up? Whether it's a semester project, final-year dissertation, or a training report, getting your printing and binding right — and done on time — matters as much as the content itself. Here's everything you need to know before you print.
Step 1: Check Your Institution's Formatting Rules
Before printing anything, confirm with your department or guide:
- Paper size: Almost always A4
- Font & spacing: Commonly Times New Roman 12pt, 1.5 line spacing, but this varies by university
- Margins: Many universities require a wider left margin (often 1.5") to allow for binding
- Single or double-sided: Some universities require single-sided printing for the main report, double-sided for appendices
- Number of copies: Usually one for submission, one for your guide, and one for your own records
Getting this wrong is the #1 reason students end up reprinting — always confirm before you print your final copy.
Step 2: Choose the Right Binding
Your binding choice depends on what your submission calls for:
| Binding Type | Best For | Starting Price |
|---|---|---|
| Spiral (coil) binding | Draft submissions, internal reports, lies flat when open | ₹50 |
| Soft cover (laminated) | Final-year reports, dissertations needing a polished look | ₹80 |
| Hard cover | PhD proposals, MBA projects, university final submissions | ₹120 |
If you're unsure which one your department requires, check your submission guidelines — many universities explicitly specify "spiral bound" or "hard bound" for final copies.
